She has completed her Graduation in English Honours from St. Xavier’s College in Kolkata. Her father Sakti Thakur is also a singer but is an Bengali singer. Monali was trained in Hindustani Classical music under Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty and Pandit Jagdish Prasad. She has sensuous voice and cute face. Monali started her singing career when she study in school. At age of 14 she was won her first Award at Anandalok Award for the bengali serial Sri Ramakrishna. She also learnt hip hop and Bharatnatyan and also a trained Salsa dancer.
